For the People Law Office Announces Membership of Defense Committee for Chairman Fred Hampton Jr.

Chairman Fred Hampton Jr. Court Support

For the People Law firmly and proudly stands with Chairman Fred Hampton Jr. For the People team members Attorney Jenipher R. Jones, Kalonji Jama Changa, and Andy Williams all serve on the Chairman Fred Hampton Jr.’s Defense Committee, a team comprised of eight community members, advocates, and attorneys. Their participation reflects a deep commitment to defending constitutional rights, preserving the authentic legacy of the Black Panther Party, and standing against the politically motivated criminalization of Black liberation leadership.

Background. On December 3, 2025 — the eve of the 56th anniversary of the assassination of Chairman Fred Hampton Sr. by the Chicago Police Department — Chairman Fred Hampton Jr. was present at Fred Hampton Way (2337 West Monroe Street) to pour libations, honor his father's memory, and commune with local residents, exercising his First Amendment right to spiritual practice, ceremony, and political expression. He maintained the court-ordered 100-foot boundary at all times — which is corroborated by the fact that law enforcement present never once detained or took him into custody. Rather than acting as an aggressor, Chairman Hampton Jr. was surrounded by approximately ten men in a threatening confrontation in which one individual was captured on video stating "smoke 'em" — at the very site where his father and Defense Captain Mark Clark were murdered by state actors. The very next morning, a misdemeanor criminal charge, based upon what can fairly be characterized as a pretextual report and the fruit of an abuse of process, was issued for Violation of a Stalking No Contact Order under 720 ILCS 5/12-3.9(a) against Chairman Hampton Jr. in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Case No. 25DV7559701. Trial is set for June 2nd, 2026, at 1:30 PM CST at the Harrison & Kedzie Courthouse, 3150 W. Flournoy St., Chicago, IL 60612.

Managing Attorney Jenipher R. Jones brings a lens of constitutional law and post-conviction relief, particularly with respect to political cases due to her representation of several political prisoners, and has been a steadfast legal voice for Chairman Hampton Jr. from the earliest stages of this case, helping to build the defense team, and ensuring that the political significance of this case is properly understood and communicated. Chief of Movement of Affairs, Kalonji Jama Changa is an internationally recognized movement organizer who has sounded the alarm on this coordinated attempt to hijack and destroy the legacy of the Black Panther Party, calling it a matter requiring coordinated legal and political response and describing it as a fiduciary responsibility for all conscious-minded people committed to preventing this political catastrophe. For the People Chief of Staff and Community Engagement, Andy Williams, contributes both his legal knowledge and political skills to the team. Together, the entire team of eight brings legal acumen, movement integrity, and an unshakeable commitment to Chairman Hampton Jr. and to the people.

For the People Law Office calls on the community, the legal profession, and all freedom-loving people to attend or observe the June 2nd trial.
