For the People SCOTUS News: Defending Voting Rights

NCBL along with the National Lawyers Guild (NLG) filed an amicus brief defending Voting Rights! The brief argued that the creation of a second majority-minority district in Louisana is constitutional under the 14th and 15th amendments and necessary to protect Black voters from dilution of their electoral power. NCBL legal contributors, board member Jenipher Jones, and long-standing member and legal scholar, Deborah Jackson for this amicus petition to the SCOTUS, in the ‘Louisiana v. Phillip Callais’ case.
